I feel like there are 3 steps to learning art.
1: basic fundamentals
learning perspective/ light and shadow. all that stuff that applies to everything.
2: learning how to draw things
You don’t know how to draw an airplane or a crocodile by just thinking those words. no matter how amazing as shit you are at the basic fundamentals. If you don’t know what they look like how are you supposed to be able to draw it? anatomy and things like that fall into this category. build a mental library.
3: experimentation and theories
now that you know how to draw in general and have an idea of what you want to draw. you can screw around with color theory and different techniques and all sorts of stuff. finding a voice and all.
all three of these things are things you have to work on forever. there is no perfect anything in these 3 steps. you can always work on your fundamentals. you can always find new things to memorize and draw. and you can always experiment.
this is just my 2 cents.
